I was announced in Distrowatch as well. :cool:

Slackware has moved up the chart in distro watch quick. lol

Good to see Slackware getting mentioned! I am looking forward to my 14.0 subscription being delivered in the not too distant future. :)

Not a constructive contribution, even in jest.

You have been warned several times in the past to be constructive. No need to start something with sarcasm & criticism either since you seem to lack the understanding when you post in this manner things happen.

EDIT: After PM discussion and clarifications, the moderation was in error. So my apologies to Mercury305 for misunderstanding.

I swear this was not "Criticism" but the very OPPOSITE.

On the Internet it is difficult to determine the intent of a post. I too thought that your comment, "lol", was a bit odd. I'm happy that you did not intend to be critical or sarcastic.

Seriously, we all know that these statistics should be taken with a (big) piece of salt. This is not new and has been discussed many times, including in Distrowatch itself.

Furthermore:
1) When people see a distribution mentioned in a news article in Distrowatch, out of curiosity some click on the link to that distribution and its rank increases.
2) This is specially true when a new version has just been released.

By the way, Distrowatch is used to publish a news article about any new *release* even those they tag "development" ones.

So maybe that's my fault, as my previous post in this thread was useless. :confused:

Its understandable to misunderstand what I wrote. Especially coming from my finger tips.

But what I meant to say that since it has been a while that Slackware has come with a new release. The way it jumped up in charts should show the enthusiasm of its users.

Seems like a pretty harmless remark to me, compared to some of his previous efforts. Don't think it warrants a warning. :twocents:

Some people, especially the younger generation type 'lol' after everything. It's sort of like a nervous tick or something. It used to bother me a lot, especially with text messages.

So I just read over 'lol' now. It means nothing to me anymore.

I been following the conversations on here recently and Mercury305 seems to have ruffled some features at the beginning, but I don't think he was being a troll and have noticed an improvement to the posts, especially after Patrick came in and explained some stuff better to him.

yup, sorry about the other remarks of my past bro. You live and you learn. I'm understanding the beauty of Slackware now though as I use it more often. Actually I am starting to like all distros in their own ways instead of just looking at their negative sides. Unix Philosophy: Use all distros for their specific purpose. Choose distros that do 1 thing well lol.
I should add backtrack and fedora in my list as well.

But as you can seee Slackware is number 1:
