Linksys driver install (searched hi & low)

I just installed Slack 9.1 using bare.i kernel then started trying to get on my network and realized that the drivers didn't load/install (not really sure.) I found a thread of a similar problem but basically said it should work and use modprobe but modprobe doesn't work for me and linksys' instructions don't help because the compiler spits out a bunch of errors.

Anyone got any Idea?

OH! hehe it's a linksys lne100tx 4.1 NIC

Thanks in advance,
Bogus8

Should use simply the tulip module? Is that the module/driver your trying to load, etc?

I do know there was a version of tulip that didn't like one of the NIC versions, like your 4.1 version for example, etc. Not sure if it was that version of another though. More details please?

This isn't an answer, but it may help a little...
I have a slightly later version of the same card (ver5.1).
It was detected on boot up on my slack9.0 system.
The command 'lspci' (as root) should come up with a line similar to:
02:0b.0 Ethernet controller: Linksys Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100 model NC100 (rev 11)
You should be able to check if your card was detected at boot by looking in /etc/rc.d/rc.netdevice(if it exists). In my case the line

/sbin/modprobe tulip

was in this file.

You can check to see if the driver loaded by typing lsmod (as root) in a console. In my case 'tulip' is listed.

did you run netconfig? this sorted out my dhcp connection automatically, and is a lot simpler than editing rc.inet1 by hand.

sorry if this is no help, but it should at least help you find out if the driver is loading.
