Edit 'lilo.conf" add "compact" to it. This took care of the bios check, made it almost instant...

Where and how?

A few things I installed slackware as for the instillation worked flawlessly. Got my partions everything right exactly the way I wanted. Even rocking my xfce that I love. Never saw that option to install anything other than KDE smh reading is fundamental. First thing is I see no type of wireless manager at all. Nothing to setup/config/add any additional drivers. one thing that is mildy irritating is the timmer to switch between windows or slackware is to long. Next it has windows first instead of slackware. I know there was a way for it boot and load slackware gui instead of me running startx every time. I don't mind it as much makes me feel super pro or something. currently I have no nothing. No form of internet on my laptop (outside of slavery which is windows). Makes me sad. At the very least to live

To add 'compact to lilo (as root):
Code:

nano /etc/lilo.conf
add the word 'compact somewhere near the top of the file and then run the command 'lilo'.

Network manager (wicd) can be installed from the /extra directory on the Slackware installation disk.

To boot straight into GUI: http://humanreadable.nfshost.com/sdeg/gui_startup-1.htm

A few things. When I tried to enter nano /etc/lilo.conf at the terminal it said file did not exist. So I did a ls and all I saw was my regular downloads, documents, ect... I went and looked trough the root directory to go to where /etc/X11/xinitr was and edit it with a basic kword doc but It did not have the right things so I left without saving I think it was the wrong file. However It should have been the right one.

As I mentioned before, make sure you're doing it as root. Please post the terminal output (your command + the error) exactly as it was (copy+paste) and wrap it in the code tags.

Why did you want to edit /etc/X11/xinitr?

Your problems deserve a separate thread. I've reported them to be moved.
