libXfixes.so.3 can't be found - >no thunderbird, firefox, gain...

hey,

I was trying to make the cedega run, but I needed to install some new stuff, including upgrading GTK and GLIB , I am using slack 10.1

That thing never worked, but after that, trying to open Thunderbird, I got that messabe... and then the same with firefox, mozilla, netscape, gain...

The only working is Konqueror !!

I installed all old versions of everything, but couldnt find that lib.

I even tried to install new versions os firefox, I tried a lot of different things suggested here and there in these forums..

In this site, I got people saying to link to another lib, to upgrade/re-install X, to a lot of things... all very different and probably very dangerous...

I found that lib as .deb , but nothing to slack.

Anyone knows where can I get THAT lib, that EXACTLY lib, and how to insall it?

Once you start getting linker errors with packages you didn't compile yourself..... its time to start over with a new distro :) Your libraries are hosed, and who knows where the problem is.

if a complete re-install is not an option, then you'll just have to start stripping your system of packages until you find the problem. Uninstall ALL X11 components, all graphics libraries, and everything else associated with the GUI. Then start over installing packages again.

This would probably be a _lot_ easier in debian...
