"libtool: warning: remember to run 'libtool --finish /usr/lib64'" while compiling .SlackBuilds.

I have faced "libtool: warning: remember to run 'libtool --finish /usr/lib64'" warning frequently while building packages using SlackBuilds from slackbuilds.org. For instance, the last time this happened was for c-ares.

- What is this warning and why I face it?

- Should I run 'libtool --finish /usr/lib64' or not?

Many thanks.

you face it because libtool complains that the prefix specified in the SlackBuild during the "make" phase is different from the one you have when you run "make install": this happens because "make install" in a SlackBuild is usually followed by a "DESTDIR" variable that alters the prefix to put files not in the system but in a directory for packaging.

no, you don't need to do anything: if you see that while running a SlackBuild you can consider it an harmless warning.
