Simply put, with that amount of RAM, it won't be easy (if it's even possible at all). Linux will cache items in memory when there's enough available to speed things up, but when another program opens up that requires that memory, the cache will be dumped. Your best bet is to add some RAM to the board. You can usually find it pretty cheap.
