Libcurl Problem

I've tried to install the slapt-get package, and when I tried to use it for the first time, it shows me an error about a libcurl librarie.

I check the dependencies of the package, and I downloaded the libraries, and after the installation, now shows me the next error:
Quote:
slapt-get: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Does anybody know where can I download that librarie?
I already look for it, but I just found .rpm packages.
I need a tar.gz for my slackware

Download curl from the official site and compile it from source. I'm betting it needs the latest version of curl as the one that comes with slackware has 'libcurl.so.3' instead of 'libcurl.so.4'.

(If it were me doing this, I would symlink from 3 to 4, and see if it works, I'd say changes are 50% )

Thumbs up Ok

I downloaded the libraries from the same page. But I should get the ones from Slackware?? or the ones from the source archives??

Thanks

I run the command:
Quote:
find / -name libcurl*
and I found the library libcurl.4.so installed, at the path: /usr/local/lib/.

So, the error shown tells me that the library does not exist in the share libraries directory, and I checked the /usr/local/share/, and all I found was the libraries of version 3.

Could be that I made a mistake while installing them, because all I did is to follow the instructions of the INSTALL file.

Try linking it from '/usr/local/lib' to '/usr/lib'. Also, it should be 'libcurl.so.4'

Yeah, go ahead. I'm just saying that it's probably expecting it to be in '/usr/lib' not '/usr/local/lib'. Symlinking it may solve the problem.
