I've successfully installed slackware on a Dell Latitude X300, still tweaking things, but thats part of the fun

I didn't see anyone mention the following site which you may find useful

http://www.linux-laptop.net/

Have fun

I have Slack 10 on an Acer TravelMate 290.
Everything works just fine including the Centrino wifi - I used Linuxant for that and it was easy. I'd probably give ndiswrapper a go now though as I've just used that to get a D-link G520 108Mbps link up and running.

One thing though, I've never bother with the battery features stuff...maybe one day.

Slackware's fine on my dell inspiron 600m. Centrino wifi is working with the naitive driver project. My problem is I can't sleep/suspend it, and the monitor doesn't go off when the lid's closed with ACPI. Other than that, it's good.

slackware running here, ibm thinkpad 380z, crystal labs sound card, and prism2 wifi running well. another distro to think about is DSL, it runs fast, but is very very minimal!
