Kontact:KMail - "Two updates conflict with each other"

In the last couple of days I started getting a dialog appear In Kontact:KMail when Checking Mail. The dialog box has a title of "Conflict Resolution - Local Folders of type Maildir" with text of "Two updates conflict with each other. Please choose which updates(s) to apply."

I'm then given 3 options "Take left one", "Take right one" or "Keep both".

Yesterday I have about 10 of these appear. Today I've had one - expecting more!

What's going on here and how can I stop it from happening?

Hi Richard

Thanks for the reply. I'd already sort of discounted that as my problem because I'm on 4.10.5 and it seems to relate to 4.9 and has been fixed.

Though it did lead me to old "Bug 302235 - Mail sending delayed or does not work / Freezes " which was unconfirmed.

This problem has only started very recently - about the last week. About a month ago I re-enabled "Nepomuk Semantec Desktop" to get back searching within Kmail. I've now disabled it to see if the problem goes away.

Today I've also discovered that I may have a hardware fault - not sure if it's related. I've raised a separate post for that http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...em-4175535727/

The Hardware fault, if it is one, has been there since before August 2014. As this problem with Kmail only started in March 2015, I've decided the two problems are not related.

Another problem that also appeared recently, in March 2015, is that occasionally when I click on a message to delete it, the message doesn't get removed from the GUI. If I close/open Kontact the message in the GUI is gone.

Also the other thing that's also started happening, in March 2015, when I log on the bottom panel on the KDE desktop is minimized towards the left, I then have to maximize it manually. This is OK for a couple of days then it happens again.

I beginning to wonder if all these software problems are related and I need a rebuild of the software on my machine. If I go down this road it would be nice to coincide with the next stable release of Slackware, though I suspect I might have a long wait.

I've now getting an understanding of what is happening.

For a long time, several years, I've had an anti-virus filter configured in KMail using clamav. It just ticked along in the background doing what it was tasked to do without giving me any trouble.

Sometime, on 28th Feb. 2015 I upgraded from clamav-0.98.5 to clamav-0.98.6.

The problem "Conflict Resolution - Local Folders of type Maildir" started shortly after.

The problem continued until I disabled the anti-virus filter.

So my conclusion is something has changed between clamav-0.98.5 and clamav-0.98.6 that I've failed to take account of. Though a cursory glance of the changelog for clamav-0.98.6 doesn't give me any clues as to what has changed to cause the problem I encountered.
