If I recall, KDE 3.1 is the newest release. I would suspect there is some old config or file info from the old version tht is probably messing it up to cause the crashes. Look for something that might have old config values or cache files, etc. and remove them. Then retest. I am still running the stock KDE desktop for Slack 8.1. But I have seen many programs have similar problems after upgrading a system. Values change, and ranges change, the new program is not able to handle the old stuff so it just crashes or terminates.
I removed all previous KDE packages before installing KDE 3.1, and the .kde* in my home dir, I also tried running kde with a newly created user, but still konqueror crashes.
This is most puzzling .. ahh well.
Now I can try checking some of the preview options to see wich one is causing konqueror to crash ... I hope it's not a combination of 2 or more ... lol
it woks fine here if you open folders with a quickbrowser from the K menu or in the panel. i can't tell why... also it runs fine from a terminal. if you love extra terminals, trade in your "URL" shortcuts for application links that have "konqueror URL" for a command line, and set it to run in a terminal. then you can also watch mysterious error messages that *aren't* fatal... weird, but i'll try that preview thing too because I for one -do not- love extra terminals
