konqueror covers my files and folder in black!

Eeekk! Please can someone help me fix this,

When i open a folder in kde my usual window appears but now in the right hand side where i used to see the folders and icons and their names now all i see is the icons without the text underneath. The background is black thus obscuring the text! how can i remedy this? I give my 4 year old son free access to the pc as i want him to know linux rather then windows and somehow he has managed to alter the over all appearence.

Trust a child!

Thanks

well, all settings should be in kde's control center. if you just want standard settings again, remove ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/

you know, you could always make a new locked down account for your son (but without root access it's no fun of course ).

(
btw IMHO one should only leave a child alone with a computer, if it doesn't have internet access...

Also, I believe the VIEW tab has an option for configuring the background (color or texture) for a quick fix

Root, the doorstpe of the divine!

Thenks erklaerbaer and GrapefruiTgirl, will give both methods a try and see what i come up with. erklaerbaer as far as allowing him root i wont let him at a system unless he has admin or root access, i dont want him to know how to just surf the net and send emailsi want him to fully understand what power lays at his finger tips, and as you pointed by putting in place restrictions he will always be a child and never a MAD man.

Thanks People's

Smile The universe is at balance!

Well guys and gals i now have my good old system back to 100% functionality. Thank you both. It was amusing to have my son beside me as i fixed the problem, mainly because i wanted to teach him how to fix it and not just use it. Anyway after i had it fixed i went to make coffee and when i came back into the room my son syas look i put it back the way i like it, BLACK!

Kids born to drive us mad, but at leat insanity has it's upsides....namely a complete disregard for normal life!

Thanks Again
