KMixCtrl and Kmix crash

I've made a bit of a mess. I was having a problem with getting my soundcard woking. So I used pkgtool to get rid of alsa. I tried downloading a new version, now when I start 'KMixXtrl' and 'KMix' crash, and i get the following error.

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (Permission denied)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

Anybody got any ideas??

Assign yourself to the audio group. This is not a crash but an error message.
