Kmail sending from wrong account issues

Hi all, again.

This is REALLY annoying. I have around 6 email accounts for business & private use that I retrieve and send via pop/smtp with Kmail (Version 1.11.4). But it seems that all my outgoing mail is only sent via one account (say first@gmail.com) even if I select another account for the outgoing I.D field and FROM field.

When I look in the sent folder the headers shows the correct sent from account but my recipients headers show they were all sent from first@gmail.com!? Ebay keeps bouncing my emails back too as a result saying the email is not registered blah, blah, blah.

It used to work just fine so not sure what is happening. I have tried reinstalling Kmail/kdepim-4.2.4-x86_64-1.txz deleted all the accounts and recreated them but the problem persists.

Can anyone give any ideas?

Thanks in advance, BashTin.

Thats actually normal, its normal to have just one SMTP account and the other accounts use it,it can be done to have more than one SMTP account but its a palaver... !

Make sure you have separate identities and separate sending accounts set up. Then make sure that the Settings->Identities->$IDENTITY->Advanced->Transport is ties the two together. Then, when you are sending an email, just change the identity and press end and it should be sent through the correct outgoing server. This works for me.

If this doesn't work, I suggest posting to a KDE forum rather than Slackware since it is a KDE issue.

I agree here. The 'reply to:' address comes from the identity, not the SMTP server. It sounds like the mail is sending through the correct MTA but with the wrong 'reply to:'. Create new identities for all 'reply to:' addys that you want to use and you can select them on individual messages and/or make them sticky for certain recipients.

Hi again, thanks to all. I did have the separate identities but was missing the 'reply to' field and 'special transport' fields under the advanced tab.

All sorted now, thanks.

BashTin

PS: Brixtoncalling, probably more appropiate under KDE forum but I always get the results I need from you Slackers :-)
