Look in the file /etc/X11/XF86Config for the following lines...
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "gb"
... these are taken from my system, so the last bits (pc105 and gb) are probably different on yours. Change them to whatever kind of keyboard you have.
There's also a program called xf86config that takes care of all aspects of your X system, but if you have no other problems, it's probably just simpler to edit the above file. (Don't forget to backup!)
