'su' into root from the CLI and run 'xorgsetup', this is a good way to auto-detect your mouse (and other things).

Brilliant. Did that and when starting X, my screen says it can't handle the signal. Its a 19" widescreen monitor. It showed up fine before, just the mouse didnt work.

I've tried rewriting the monitor section in xorg.conf, but to no avail. 24 colors, low resolution (800x600) and low refresh rate, and my monitor keeps saying "Input Signal Out Of Range".

ok, try
Code:
ls -l /dev/mouse
it should be a symlink to psaux

change modes to your monitor default resolution
adjust horizsync and vertrefresh rates according to monitor specs

For now, just so you can get into Xserver, change the:
Code:
	Driver "ati"
to
Code:
	Driver "vesa"
You can also try adding more modes:
Code:
Modes "800 x 600"
to
Code:
Modes "1024 x 768" "800 x 600" "640 x 480"
OR
no modes at all (delete the line).

Eh, I just installed Debian Etch again. I'll try this for while again. Slackware on my laptop, Debian on my desktop, thats not too bad. I just can't afford not having my desktop up. Thanks everyone!

Did you remember to install the modules package? The huge26.s has a separate modules package (in /extra?). If you didn't install it a lot of things won't work, including your mouse.
