Kernel slow to load usb modules.

When I start up my computer, it boots to the login prompt, but it takes a minute or more for my keyboard and mouse to load. Anyway to fix this?

First thing to know is what it does during that time.

As root, either type "dmesg|less" just after booting or have a look at /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog.
