Kernel Problem (Network Driver)

Hi,

Ive just compiled a 2.6.20.1 kernel for a fresh install of slackware 11, I built in everything, no modules. And everything works fine except my NIC.

Its an onboard NVIDIA nForce CK804, on my Asus A8N-SLI board.

For this I selected nforce driver support under the network driver options in the kernel, there was no other nvidia drivers options, and some googling suggested this should cover it.

The problem is during boot, the initd trys to use dhcp and crashes, Its as if the driver is loaded for the card, but it just dosnt work. All the network configs are correct, as it works perfectly in the 2.4 kernel.

Any ideas what ive done wrong?

Ive checked nvidia for 3rd party drivers, but they just state they are all open source and included with the kernel...

Thanks
Jack

does it work properly if you compile it as a module instead??

Does your dmesg or messages file give you any clues ?
