Hi, I tried to upgrade the kernel for Slackware 9.1, i did so by downloading the upgrades off a legit server, I checked the GPG keys and everything seemed fine.. So when I did the upgradepkg of the kernel updates, i rebooted.. and when I reboot.. I can not load Linux, it says Loading Linux.................... and it doesnt progress, anyone know what I could do to fix this? thanks

i had this, the only way i fixed it was to boot into my 2.4.22 install. I dual booted 2.6.5 and 2.4.22 for about a week until i could be sure that the 2.6.5 was stable enough... after that i removed the old kernel. there are steps Here on how to setup such a system. The example is for 2.6.0 but it works for all the 2.6 series

You should not upgrade the kernel using packages, the best way to upgrade the kernel is to compile it from source.
