Kernel Panic VST 03:02


I just installed Slackware 10, and i'm getting this nasty error everytime i boot Kernel Panic VST 03:02

Any ideas?

Did you upgrade your kernel to 2.6.7 and you are using reiserfs?

I'm using reiser and I just upgraded the kernel to 2.6.7 and I get a kernel panic VFS: unable to mount root fs on hda1
I have to boot from the cdrom with bare.i

so what gives?

Maybe the Slack 2.6.7 kernel doesn't have reiserfs support hard-compiled. Check the config file. If reiserfs is a module, then use mkinitrd(new to Slack) to create a boot initrd that will load that module, before your 'real' root gets mounted.
Assuming that you made no mistakes in lilocofig...
