Kernel panic in 2.6.8

Hi there

When i boot slack 10.0 with the 2.6.8 kernel i get the message;

VFS: Cannot open root device "303" or unknown-block(3,3)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount fs on unknown-block(3,3)

In lilo.conf I´ve added the following lines;

#Linux bootable partition config ends
image = /boot/Linux2.6.8_4
root = /dev/hda3
label = Linux2.6.8_4
read-only
# Next Kernel
image = /boot/Linux2.6.8_5
root = /dev/hda3
label = Linux2.6.8_5
read-only

please help me. The computer im using is a HP nc6000

Did you build your file system into the kernel or as a module... if a module you'll need an initrd.img to load the filesystem prior to loading the kernel
