kernel configurations
Is there any good guide to selecting configurations when building a new kernel? For example some things have the options of being installed as a module or compiled directly into the kernel. Making sure you have the right configs for sound, etc. The process of compiling the kernel is easy enough, but how does one know all the options you really need?

most every option has an explanation you can read. you also need to read up on what hardware you have.

I just can't get sound to work for the life of me. I've compiled my SIS chipset for sound, reinstalled alsa, nothing. Says it can't find the module. Like I've mentioned on here, worked perfect on a fresh install of 9.1, but just can't get sound on 10.
