kernel boot parameters for low latency

Where is the best place to pass parameters to the slackware 10.0, 2.4 kernel?
I have applied low latency patch with sysctl switch. red hat has sysctl.rc file for passing arguments to kernel. I use lilo, is lilo best place?
I can echo a 1 to the /proc/.../lowlatency but I am not sure this is activating the feature.
Trying to get JACK up for Ardour install.
Any help would be great.
Thanks...
