kernel 3.0.4 upgrade and module-init-tools

Would I be correct in thinking that compilation/installation/running of kernel-3.0.4 requires a version bump of module-init-tools. I noted in the Slackware-current for ARM architecture that this may be the case.

I intend to run this version on x86 architecture

No.

I have been compiled and ran every kernel release since 3.0 was released ( up to 3.1-rc4-git2) with no problems

There was an update to module-init-tools to work with 2 digit kernel versions but it isn't a problem if you build 3.0 and expect uname to be 3.0.0. Obviously this isn't a problem for 3.0.1+ so you have nothing to worry about (at least until 4.0 hopefully. )
