Unhappy kernel 2.6.x and slack 11

I have a question...is it possibile to see the kernel linux 2.6.x as default kernel in Slackware 11?

Thanks,
Shifter

I guess it will depend on whether Pat is satisfied enough with the stability of the 2.6.16.xx kernel to make it standard. I am sure it is under rigorous testing.

You should get a clue if 2.6.16.xx moves out of the '/testing' directory in the 'Changelog' to Slackware-current.

It isn't out yet, so at this stage doing anything in Slackware 11 would involve time travel.

However, you can use either a 2.4 or 2.6 kernel under Slackware 10.2, and all the 2.6 features can be made to work with a bit of tweaking.

i assume you mean the kernel that is in the testing section. i'm pretty sure you can install it, BUT it only supports ext2 partitions. so if you didnt format your partition that slack goes to as ext2 on a full fresh install your screwed

Read PKs readme about mkinitrd. I am running 2.6.16.16 generic on a machine with a single reiserfs3 partition, I just followed his example which just happens to be preloading the reiserfs module
