KERNEL 2.6.2 Need help with VGA modes on slackware 9.1 (that means you mike)

dIm running on slack 9.1, and have upgraded the kernel from the default 2.4.22 to a 'straight from source -install and compile- 2.6.2) For the most part everything works, except excpet the vga text consoles. Before slackware allowed me to run at 1024x768, it was nice. Now I can seem to get it to work in my new kernel. I found the option(s) (I think) in the kernel confiuartion process, and have got it set up in lilo (id imagine) but I cant get it to work, the system boots up and runs on a black screen until it booats into X.

First off, do I need to enable any frambuffer device drivers in the kernel config?
second, im running on a geforce mx 400 graphics card,

Please any slack experts would help.

you thank.

In lilo.conf, set the framebuffer specs to something minimal, such as 800x600x256 -- J.W.

Hi,

When I first compiled 2.6.x series my screen was completely blank at 1024x768. I own a gforce 440mx too. I had to enable vesa frambuffer (ONLY!, don't enable vga) in kernel.

Also I compiled the fonts into the kernel. Now it works fine at 1024x768.

Good luck.

SnOp

P.D.: I think there are many threads here in linuxquestions.org about this.
