I had DrKongi giving me similar message and Kicker crashing after installing KDE 3.4
At first I did only partial install of KDE (like the libs, base, and a few other packages) and I didn't have any libs from Gnome installed.
It seemed to solve itself after I installed the libs from Gnome from the second slackware CD (not the whole Gnome, just the libs) and also I installed all of KDE except the Koffice which I don't use.
I made sure to remove all of the original KDE that comes with Slackware, and also Arts.
But I might be going back to the KDE that comes with Slackware because KDE 3.4 is just unbareably buggy.
The freaking icons will not stay in place and will get scrambled on the left side of the desktop after every reboot.
and when adding an icon to the Kicker it will move the taskbar and everythign all over the bar.
How could they ever miss this during testing is beyond me. Just by using KDE for 5 minutes one runs into this problem.
On positive note, it's the fastest KDE so far, but that get's offset quickly by the annoying bugs.
