i tried renaming the knotifyrc file, log out and in, i see the new knot file but still nothing.
while we are on the subject.. why is it my alsamixer wont hold the settings. i noticed after the 3.3 upgrade i have to keep doing the mixer thing....getting a little obnoxious now. and yes im in the audio group
thanks for any help and good luck to us all.........
Has anyone thought about passing this info on to ALSA or KDE themselves? After browsing various forums I have noticed that plenty of folks have similar problems, and they aren't using Slack either, so that tells me it is not just a Slack problem. It is either an ALSA or KDE or both problem.
Hmm, has anyone that has these problems installed both ALSA and KDE from source and compiled them themselves? Just to rule out any swaret (or similar program) related problems.
Just to let everyone know, I tried getting some answers from KDE site.
One of the places they said to get help was comp.windows.x.kde
newsgroup. Havn't posted in the newsgroups in years, but I have
started a thread asking for help in the matter.
If anything usefull comes from it, I'll be sure and post.

i always compile ALSA from source and i
TRIED to compile KDE from source with no luck

there are multiple/duplicate bug reports
...unresolved
well now im stumped.....i logged out and back in this time as root, not my user and guess what..sound.
so now i think that there is a permission issue somewhere. so at least for me its not a kde alsa issue, but a user profile issue.
i would rather not mv my .kde and have a new one created so im gonna mess around and see what i come up with.

Well having now moved all of my old *rc files to my new .kde directory, (albeit only one at a time, with extensive testing afterwards) I have been unable to get this problem to duplicate. So it looks as if my temporary fix has now become my permanent fix. No doubt there is a proper way to do this, but all I can report is what has worked for me. Sorry people that I canīt be any more specific. I suppose I could try to break it again, and may well do that at some point, but for now at least, I am tempted to leave well alone. Hopefully someone else will have a bit more success at getting to the bottom of it than I have.
