KDE/X goes berserk
After running a swaret the other week, my mouse goes berserk. If I move my mouse around my desktop, folders open when the cursor flies over them, and then it locks my screen since the cursor eventually flies over my lock screen button on KDE.
I thought it was the MS Natural Keyboard i started using a few weeks back or my MS optical mouse (both which seemed to work fine in Windows). But the problem still persists now that I have a Logitech Wireless Express kb/mouse combo. Any thoughts, or help is greatly appreciated, thanks, krfan1 |
Slight update, I booted into 2.4 (the kernel that came with Slack 9.1) and my mouse works again. I didn't think that the kernel would have anything to do with mouse movements as mouch as X or KDE.
Still, if anyone knows how to remedy my issue in 2.6, chime in Thanks, krfan1 |
I doubt that it your problem was just due to the kernel. My guess would be that something went bust during your update. Eg, kernel 2.6 might have loaded a module for something that was already compiled in...
In other words: Try to upgrade your kernel manually, following the instructions given by "the man" (instead of using Swaret). It should work! gargamel |
if you upgraded to current there maybe issues with xorg.

I've never used swaret for the kernel. I have always compiled and configured my kernels manually.

krfan1, try with another window manager, so we can know if it's a KDE thing only.

I will have to try a different one this weekend. My buddy has the a similar setup (Slack 10, Logitech wireless set <different, but same XF86Config settings> and his gui works. Though he is using Enlightenment and he has no probs.

Maybe check out your xorg.conf file first before doing anything drastic. Swaret updates xorg.
