kde wont even start (libqt-mt.so.3 error)

hi everyone !
as u can tell I have a problem getting kde to work ... I just installed slackware 9.1 on my friends computer and because his cd-drive didn't work I just installed the first cd via network

that was no problem .. but afterwards I installed the packages for gnome, kde and kdei ... and none of the kde programms are working (kde doesn't even start) ... all I get is:

error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3 : cannot open shared object file ...

and it's true ... that file doesn't exist ... but I do have a libqt-mt.so.3.2.1, so could that be of any help ?

thanks for helping

Slackware 9.1: on the CD in the kde dir there is a package qt-3.2.1. You'll need that to run KDE programs.

thanks .... but it's installed

The error message suggests that there is something wrong with it. try to remove it first ( removepkg qt-3.2.1-i486-1 ) . There was a new package released by Slackware (available on ftp/mirror in slackware-9.1/patches/packages) and try to install that one (installpkg qt-3.2.1-i486-2 ). To be sure run ldconfig afterwards.

hey .... it works now ! .... but not because reintalling it ... I just created a symlink from my existing libqt-mt.so.3.2.1 to the missing libqt-mt.so.3 :D
