KDE Plasma 5 not reading .Xresources

I have Eric's KDE Plasma 5 installed on 14.2. Everything else is stock Slackware. I boot to run level 4 with the new SDDM.

I have a couple of problems:

1) I have to manually run "xrdb .Xresources" to have xterm resources read. "xrdb - merge .Xresources" in ~/.xinitrc doesn't do the trick, nor for that matter does "xrdb .Xresources".

2) I used to be able to start Fvwm on display :1 by going to VT2 and running "xinit fvwm -- :1". This just starts KDE again now, which is the default window manager. I tried replacing SDDM with XDM but the problem persisted.

Perhaps you should give the path to your .Xresources?

xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources
