Cool KDE login problems for users on Slackware 9.1

I would like to know what to do. I installed slackware 9.1, and everthing went perfect. So I go to log on for the first time as Root. Type in startx and KDE starts right up. after i finished doing all the stuff i wanted to do, i was ready to switch over to my regular user account. I typed in startx...

These are the errors that come up.

xauth: timeout in locking authority file //.Xauthority
xauth: timeout in locking authority file //.Xauthority
xauth: timeout in locking authority file //.Xauthority
xauth: timeout in locking authority file //.Xauthority

Then it looks as if it is about to start up kde just fine. But after a couple minute at the spash screen it pops up with a window saying that there is an error with my .DCOPserver

Then...

The following instalation problem was detected while trying to start KDE.
No write access to $Home directory (/home/trep)

Please let me know if anyone has had a problem like this or if you know whats going on please help

Idont want to do half the stuff i want to run becuase im logged in as aroot.

Thank you
Trep

You could always go into KDE as Root - use Kedit to open up /etc/inittab - change the run level from 3 to 4 (4 being graphical mode in Slack) ie

id:3:initdefault:

to

id:4:initdefault:

Then open a command line and add an ordinary user with

adduser

on reboot you'll be able to login as an ordinary user into KDE
