KDE Improved and QT

Does anyone know how to install these?
They both have 3 folders when I extract them: KDE has install, opt, and usr. QT has etc, install and usr.
But neither of them have any config file so I don't know what to do. Do I just extract the files into the appropriate directory or is there something else I need to do?

if that are .tgz -Slackware-packages you can use "pkgtool" or "upgradepkg " to install them.
when you are updating kde, you must logout of X to a cli ( runlevel 3 ) and do it from there.

if you use pkgtool, first unintall the current packages, then install the new ones.

^ That's right, except you only need to remove qt. Don't remove any kde packages.
