KDE+Console Problem (Kernel 2.6.4)
Hi,
I've got a problem that is driving me nuts. I compiled the Kernel 2.6.4 the other day using Slackware 9.1, and it works like a charm except for the fact I can't change from KDE to console. Evertime I try to change from the KDE to a console pressing STRG+ALT+Fn the screen goes black, resulting in a total lock up of my box. Same thing happens if I try to manually reboot my system by using the 'reboot' comand. I can change console just fine before I start the KDE, but the moment I start it, there's no return..:\ Any ideas what could be the cause of this highly annoying problem..? Help would be highly appreciated! Zargun |
Are you using framebuffer?

I tested a few things and found out, that changeing consoles and rebooting from KDE works fine until I installed the ATI driver.
The ATI driver itself works fine, I can play the UT2004 demo with zero problems only changing from KDE to console doesn't work :\ Zargun |
Ermm...okay. Try turning framebuffer off if you have it on.
Edit /etc/lilo.conf and find where it says "vga = <number>" and change it to "vga = normal" |
