KDE and X problem

Hello, i have a laptop that doesnt like to cooperate with me. Redhat installs fine and X starts up beutifully and fast and everything. The only down side is that i hate redhat. Plus it will not for the life of me recognize my nic or wireless pcmcia card. Slackware, however, recoginzes both of them. The only thing Slack wont do is start x. I've tried installing new drivers, redoing my x config file (forgot what its called now), and just about everything you can think of.

What i need to know is, since X works with redhat, obviously there is linux support for my laptop. What files (like drivers or config files or what ever else) do i need to copy from my redhat install so that i can just paste into my slack install. I'm getting really frustrated with this. lol. I love slack, but i cant get x working. Is soooo frustrating. Anyways, i'd appriciate any advice or help you can offer. Thanks again!!

Try the tools that come with X, first.

XFree86 -configure
xf86cfg
xf86config

Try in this order, too ...
#1 does it automagically (sometimes)
#2 kind of a craphical interface
#3 You need to know your hardware
well, but never failed me yet.

Cheers,
Tink

How about posting the output of

lsmod
lspci -v

and your XF86Config
generated by xf86config?

Cheers,

I know how to startx, my problem isnt starting x but rather getting it to run correctly.

I'll post the configs in a few mins. I'm recompiling the kernel right now.
