KDE and Fonts

Every so often the fonts in KDE go awry and display like -

v i e w

ie with what would appear to be a space between each character. Very annoying.

The only way I've managed to get back to normality has been to delete .kde from each of the users directory so that KDE effectively resets itself up for that user.

The last thing(s) I did prior to the problem occuring was to install the following -

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1892375 2004-06-14 20:48 zsh-4.2.0-i486-1.tgz

None of the descriptions for these packages would seem to indicate that it would cause this problem. I've raised this thread in Mozilla for a session with the strange font. The font in Mozilla seems OK.

Any suggestions?
