Yeah, cause as it can be seen in your screenshot is uses the xine backend. If you switch over to gstreamer i am guessing it will be back.
What i am wondering, but i am not willing try it myself, is if QT can build a xine backend, like it does now with gstreamer. Of course without having the removed phonon package installed. But it doesnt seem to.

yeah, i finally reinstalled phonon and everything back to normal, including Amarok which can play MP3 files again.
I didn't understand why phonon package are removed

actually, on my system Amarok was playing mp3's without the phonon package. am only saying this because you said "again".

btw..i agree with you that removal of the phonon package was sudden

Ok try this: remove phonon and play mp3 in amarok and when it stops see if it automatically starts playing the next track.
I am only asking since I ahve experienced this problem without phonon-backend.

i don't have gst-plugins-bad and ugly on my system. Is that the culprit?
i have restarted Amarok several times and i couldn't play MP3 without phonon package installed

Of course it is. gst-plugins-ugly in patricular.

But is gstreamer preffered over xine by upstream QT and KDE and why?

Well, xine is GPL only, so its phonon back-end cannot be distributed in the LGPL version of Qt. That can be a reason.
The question is more why the Slack team decided to go for the Qt version of Phonon.

Unlikely. Only security fixes are applied the the stable versions. You can always get the slackbuild and source files from current and build your own updates.

I personally would not advise this as there might be dependencies on some version of some libraries.

I would rather suggest that if you want to use KDE 4.3.3, then just upgrade into -current. Even though it's a development branch it's quite stable as long as you don't use it in a production environment at work.

If you're afraid of instability, then you can wait a few days after an upgrade in -current to see if someone didn't found a blocking bug (these kind of errors seem to be detected pretty quickly in -current).

When I upgraded to KDE 4.3.3, I also remove phonon-4.3.1-x86_64-1. Result: sound wasn't working in some applications, such as Kaffeine.

After re-installing it, and setting the default options in systemsettings -> multimedia -> Audio Output -> Music, everything is ok, again.

Seems, that for the moment phonon-4.3.1 is still needed, as there are some applications depend on it.

Never had a problem with building from source. The build itself usually fail if there are missing or old libraries. However, installing a current package into a stable release can be problematic.

l/phonon-4.3.1-x86_64-2.txz: Added.
       Phonon in Qt is missing support files needed by KDE, so this package
       restores the missing pieces. The Phonon library, include files, and
       pkgconfig files will remain in the Qt package, as those are the most
       up-to-date versions. This package will contain the xine and gstreamer
       backends and other files needed by KDE. The gstreamer backend source
       is taken from the newer sources in Qt, not from the standalone Phonon.
       Sorry about the misfire last time... this stuff should work. :-)
