And krfb appears to be fixed!!

slackd 10-23-2009 07:57 AM

has someone tested the new k3b?
Code:

kde/k3b-1.68.0-i486-1.txz: Upgraded.
is it stable enough for use?

Well, I'm in the midst of dl'ing 13.0 to burn to dvd (haven't had to create a slack dvd in eons, but I'm trying to put 13.0 on a friend's acer lappy, and it actually shuts right down whilst attempting an ftp install, so I'm goin' local...)

So, once the torrent is finished, I'll give the new-and-improved k3b a whirl, and report back whether it's coasters or, erm (what rhymes with coasters and makes sense?)

cheers,

K3b burns audio cd OK.

Everything seems to be working much better, this is what KDE in 13.0 should have been.

Does anyone know whether you can have a console beep in Konsole in 4.3.2? It seems that this feature was taken out in the earlier versions. Either way, I guess I'll be trying out KDE 4.3.2, since I've got a partition set up for Slackware -current.

willysr 10-23-2009 07:50 PM

I'm still using the old k3b for now

yeah, but then Slackware 13.0 will be postponed again due to testing will have to be conducted on KDE 4.3.x

I thought time isn't a factor with slackware, quality is? I agreee with samac, 4.3.2 is what slackware should have shipped, works much better.

i just burned two data dvd's (UDF) for my brother with k3b 1.68.0, both sessions were successful.

i'll be using the new k3b then. :)

mrclisdue 10-24-2009 04:57 AM

I tried to burn slack dvd iso with new k3b, but got a message about cdrecord not having permission to use the device (though it was able to render the formerly blank dvd useless...)

I, too, will stick to old k3b.

cheers,

not totally sure it's pertinent, but if you want to try, I fixed my k3b (and console) burning problems substituting cdrtools with cdrkit (that linked is slack64 version, I adapted 32 bit slackbuild.org script for 12.2, if you need a 32bit version you have to build by yourself).

mrclisdue 10-24-2009 06:22 AM

I had seen your post elsewhere concerning this issue, and I'll try it the next time I have something to burn.

thank you.

cheers,

I am primarily an XFce user.
I ran KDE 4.3.2 for a time last night on my -Current partition. This version of KDE is polished and runs very smoothly on my box. This is a winner.
Many thanks to Robby, Eric, and the entire Slackware team for their excellent work. :)

I downloaded everything in the OP and kde won't start, right after the disk icon in the startup screen it dies. went back to vbatt's packages and it works fine.
