KDE 3.5.4 not starting!

Hi all, here's my problem.
I've made a fresh 10.2 install with
a/
ap/
d/
l/
x/
kde/

packages (full install).

Downloaded X11-6.9.0 and KDE 3.5.4 from slackware packages (http://www.slackware.com/pb/)

then
Code:
$upgradepkg *.tgz for X
tested startx and no problems (KDE 3.4.2)

next
Code:
$upgradepkg *.tgz for KDE-3.5.4
startx does not work anymore, even after reboot.

It appears a msgbox with this
Code:
Could not start kstartupconfig. Check your installation.
Am I doing something wrong? What can I do to make it work?
Thanks in advance.

This went bust because you installed the X and KDE packages from slackware-current on top of a Slackware 10.2 box.
Generally you can't just mix packages from different major releases.
A much better idea (since you just began) is to re-install but this time use slackware-current from the beginning.
Or wait a couple of days for slackware-current to be finalized into Slackware 11.0.

you also need some new packages as well, such as cairo, acl, attr, etc.

you should read the full changelog to see what libs are needed for the next KDE
