I have a "full install" of slackware 8.1. I would like to upgrade to kde 3.1. Does anyone know of a link that outlines this pretty specifically?
Thanks
1) Download the slackware 8.1 kde packages from your local kde mirror.
2) Using pkgtool uninstall all the old kde/qt packages.
3) Using pkgtool install all the new kde packages.
so, should I grab the slack packs instead of the source and put them all in /tmp/kde3.1/ and run installpkg on every one in the same order I would compile them in?
EDIT: or, seeing as I have the source, could I just remove kde3.0 with pkgtool and install from source?
Either way. I still recomend removing the old packages first though.
OT: C++, can you remove all the useless system info from your sig please, we don't really care to have to scroll past a load of useless info everytime we want to read the next post.
Thanks Aussie! Everything went great and it solved some of kde's stability probs for me.
Has anyone tried out xfree86 4.3 yet? Would it be worth upgrading if I dont have an ati card (since there were a lot of changes for them) and I run this on a laptop?
