I've got this problem when burning cds and dvds with K3B on Slackware 10.1, it just takes ages to burn and verify a disc
I've searched the net and the only solution I have come across is enabling dma on my drives. But dma is already enabled and the recently released Nero for Linux seems to be working just fine, and doesn't seem to have any speed problems. For instance writing and verifying 1.9GB of data at 2.4X on a DVD+RW takes 48 minutes with K3B while it only takes 27 minutes with Nero. Of course I could just go with Nero, but I rather like to use K3B as it has tons of more options and features. Anybody knows what could be the cause of this problem?
Note: when I burn the disc as root K3B is still painfully slow
