No live option, no pre-installed Broadcom firmware.

As above.

What's your broadcom chipset?

Well, use the computer that you used to post here and download the broadcom drivers to a USB stick. Mount the USB stick after the initial Slackware install and install the drivers from the USB stick.

That is exactly what im wanting to do, But im having issues with downloading on all the dependencies and im afraid I will not be able to get it working..I always have trouble..still learning, but how different is slack? Im used to .deb, would this make said task daunting to me?

Also I do not recall exact specs for Broadcom, i will edit when i go grab that laptop

Well, I recommend that you look at http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43 especially the http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Dr...entioned_above portion.

Once you tell us the exact type of card that's in your machine, we can give better advice.

Why not try to use 'dual boot'? If you have the disk space you can install to a different partition then setup so your current install is intact.

Look at: Slackware Doc Project for install help.

Slackware 14 has the following Broadcom firmwares in its kernel-firmware package:
Code:
-rw-r--r-- root/root 269595 2012-08-04 20:43 lib/firmware/brcm/bcm4329-fullmac-4.bin
-rw-r--r-- root/root 180 2012-08-04 20:43 lib/firmware/brcm/bcm43xx_hdr-0.fw
-rw-r--r-- root/root 97344 2012-08-04 20:43 lib/firmware/brcm/bcm43xx-0.fw
Good chance that the one you need is among those.

Eric
