Question JRE error

Dear all,
I found bunch of hs_err log files that was spit out by JRE in a user account but not in root account. The following is its header:
Code:
#
# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00007fd4241b033a, pid=4615, tid=140549323212640
#
# JRE version: 6.0_16-b01
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (14.2-b01 mixed mode linux-amd64 )
# Problematic frame:
# V [libjvm.so+0x26e33a]
#
# If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit:
# http://java.sun.com/webapps/bugreport/crash.jsp
#
What could this error mean?

regards,
ethereal1m

My kids get these files when playing java based games like Runescape. It's just the debugging output from the program and it's quite normal. Just delete them.

So what is this? If this is a debugging output, how come it says "fatal error"?

I think it's where the app fails to exit cleanly or something.

Pretty sure it indicates some kind of error in the program. When I said it was nothing to worry about, I meant that it was nothing sinister or harmful to your computer.

even though this is benign, I'm curious how does this thing happen. Could you give me pointer to track this down meaning which application that doesn't exit cleanly. Looks like I got this error in every session without knowing which apps that complaining.

Well they do have the PID in the name of each log file.

If you do a
Code:
ps ux > ps.output
just before closing the session it might give you an idea of what program was using that PID.
