It's about my sound card this time

I have an old machine, and I lost all information about my sound card. That means that I completely have no idea what brand, model or type it is. Is there a way to install my sound card still without any information on my slackware?

as root, try running

alsaconf

then to be safe,

alsamixer

adjust all your volumes, and

alsactl store

Hey,I tried your method twice, and it always can't find the legacy card. I am sure my card is related to Yamaha. What else I can do ?

try a /sbin/lspci to determine your sound card and see if it exists an alsa driver for it

hmm, i'm not an expert, but i don't see any sound cards listed there...are you sure you have one in your machine? i suppose next i would open up the box and look at the card itself. there is almost always some sort of model # or something.

just to confirm though, when you ran alsaconf was searching for legacy cards the only option it gave you?

oh, and just to be safe, if you are sure that you have card installed in a PCI slot on your mobo, enter your BIOS at boot (press DEL or F10, or whatever it tells you to) and make sure your card isn't disabled. you want to look for an advanced tab or something, that will list your PCI devices.
