[SOLVED] is there ati radeon hd 6970 support

Hey guys! Im planning to get ati radeon hd 6970. Wonder if theres available xf86-video driver support for it rather than official ati catalyst driver? and what are your expirience with it?

I have one Ati radeon HD 5730 in my laptop and a AMD radeon HD 6870 in my desktop.
I think the new 6XXX series is supported but just with kernel 2.6.38, it's is \testing from current.

But no 3D, because needs gallium support and it's not very stable.

The best idea is stick in AMD drivers, I use it and have no complains.

Thanks alot guys for clarification. Im eager to see how it will operate with propriatery driver.Hopefully 2.6.39 will be released in the near future. Thanks again!
