Is there a way to log this?

Say I need to go away from the keyboard for a time. I click on the 'padlock' button to lock the system, thus if anyone touches a key on the keyboard or moves the mouse, the little window pops up asking for the user password.

What I want to know is if there is a way to log if someone hits a key or moves the mouse and makes the system wake up from hibernate/suspend (this is a desktop, not an laptop system) *along with* an attempt(s) to type in a password.

This way I will know if someone made the system wake up, but got too scared to try to type in a password attempt.

I'm running Slackware 14, KDE/OpenBox and have it set so that a screensaver comes up after ten minutes of inactivity and then the system goes to sleep five minutes after that so that all there is is a blank, black screen.

I don't know, but there is a log file for X events in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and in the conf file there is an option -logverbose. You may be able to crank up the logging and pick out the case that you want with a small script.

I don't know how to make any kind of script, but I appreciate the point in a direction to look. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Hey! Good idea, but was really hoping for something already internal for those times like I said that someone only moves the mouse, for instance, and it wakes up the machine but the person loses their nerve to do anything more - like type on the keyboard.

Thanks anyway. Hope Santa was good to you and yours.
