is it really i686?

So I recompiled my kernel for the second time because I found the option for specifying my processor (stupid me), so when it compiled, it said it did it in i686. I followed your tutorial, but since I had already compiled, the "export install_path" was already un checked and I already had a slackware.old in my LILO. It deleted the old backup and replaces it with the new backup, correct?

So in the Kernel config menu in KDE, it still says i386. The other options all look like 64bit processors and other stuff I wouldnt have. Should that menu say i686 or will it always be i386. I just want to make sure it compiled right.

Run 'cat /proc/version' and see if there's right date (it should be date and time you compiled the kernel).
