Is it possible to change the default text editor?

Hi all, I'm sure this is documented somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it in Pat's Slackware-HOWTO or on Google. I would like to change the default command line text editor (from vi/elvis to pico) as I'm not a big fan of vi. Obviously most of the time I can choose what to use, but some programs such as abcde just call the default editor, which is a problem. I seem to remember that it's possible to change the default in a configuration file in Gentoo, but I can't find the equivalent for Slackware.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

mmmmmmmmmm vi.

anyway... normally you can just set a new value for $EDITOR in your shell, potentially through a line in your ~/.bashrc, e.g. "export EDITOR=/stick/with/vi"

Worked like a charm, thanks!
