EDIT: I can think of no greater insult that what this user has just posted. If he is not banned, I will resign from the forum. |
How will you rebuild the confidence in Slackware that has been lost due to the recent server downtime and by your past illness (which is still being brought up by bloggers)?
Which Linux-based videogames do you and your family members enjoy? Can you describe your personal desktop setup (WM/DE)? How would you prefer the makers of closed source software (e.g. Humble Bundle games) to package their work? Okay, we all know the answer to that question. If packaging for Slackware is not an option, then what would be second best? Slackware's passionate userbase is infamous. Do you have any words for them? By default, Slackware installs an unusually large selection of text editors. Which one do you actually use? |

@elMoco I'm pretty sure he took offense at your final sentence

All, this thread needs to get back on topic IMMEDIATELY. Any further posts that are not suggestions for questions to back asked will be dealt with accordingly. This is the first and only warning (and to be honest it's extremely disappointing a thread of this nature degenerated so rapidly). Additionally, elMoco: lines such as the taliban comparison are not tolerated here at LQ. Please refrain from posting items like this in the future.

Patrick, back in an old 1994 interview you stated that you were a homebrewer. Do you still have time for that these days? Related to that what is your favourite beer (besides your own!)?

Okay be happy guys, a question from a newborn Slacker -
- In this age of commercialization, what plans or strategies do you have in mind ready if some big market player comes up with a deal of support/commercialization/backing? What factors would be considered by you as a lead, given the high reputation of Slackware's philosophy? (e.g. : iXsystems,Inc.-FreeBSD) Regards. |

P.S. the word you took such offence at is still in the quote you posted, do you think because you took such offence (considering you really dislike censorship and all that stuff) you should probably remove it from your own post and ask that it is removed from every other post it is mentioned in this thread? Sorry Jeremy, I posted before I read your post. |
A reminder: all posts after #20 that are not on topic will result in either an infraction or a temporary ban.

What do you think about Fedora and Solaris 'simplifying' the filesystem by doing stuff like merging /usr/bin and /bin? Something you would ever consider?
Somewhat related, Slackware is one of the last distros to still use /usr/{doc,man}, rather than /usr/share/{doc,man} which adds an extra complications to some SlackBuild scripts. Is it time to start doing /usr/share/{doc,man} as well? |
if u were to create the linux kernel ,, would u make the kernel's name referring to yours, something like "patrix" or "volkerix" ,,,
because actually i don't like the word linux ,if i made something and let the world to use , why should i stick my name with it. |
A question I have been interested in, is why is the development of Slackware so closed off? There isn't a whole lot of discussion about what is going on, it's just a package is added to current or stable without discussions. Where as other distros have development mailing lists and such things as that, so that the public can see what is going on behind the scenes.

My first question would be related to Pat's desktop setup - DE/WM - I'm sure most Slackers would be happy if Pat could also provide a screenshot of his desktop.
The second question would be regarding the programs/tools that he couldn't do without. |
Being a longtime slackware user, I want to thank you for an amazing distribution, Pat, and now my question:
How do you choose who you work with in your team? How did AlienBOB, Alan_Hicks, rworkman etc. get chosen? |
