internet troubleshooting tips

hi,

just wondering if anybody has any useful internet troubleshooting tips out there. my slack install went perfect and at first the internet was working pretty well. however, recently i can't connect to the internet at all while mandrake can. i'm not too familiar with how to troubleshoot this in slack. any suggestions?

thanks

check the gateway/router IP and try to ping it. does it act as a dhcp server?
check your IP and your routers IP if they are under the same subnet. can you ping your friends computer? if you can ping them all then check the dns.
