Code:
lspci
please? That command tells us the chipset of the ethernet interface.

If the module is not loading, all the editing of rc.inet1.conf will not do anything.
Lets first make sure the card is detected, loaded, and doing it's voodoo first, THEN work on configuration.
His "rc.inet1.conf" is not configured for DHCP.

In one of his previous posts, we can see the module 8139too is loaded, so it's likely that he got his NIC driver ok. We can use "ifconfig -a" to see the IF name.

As of the OP's latest lsmod, 8139too is NOT loaded.

So, my request is valid. ifconfig has already proved that only lo (loopback) is present, NOT any ethernet connection.

lspci will tell us the chipset of the nic.

THEN we can worry about why it's not up, what configurations to use, etc...

Baby steps first.

if your internet connect is set up for dhcp then all you need to do was
Quote:
# Config information for eth1:
IFNAME[0]="eth1"
IPADDR[0]=""
NETMASK[0]=""
USE_DHCP[0]="yes"
DHCP_HOSTNAME[0]=""
notice this dhcp gets all the info and starts your conection at boot. when you mark it to yes it runs a program call dhcpcd at boot time.
